Sepia’s

Sepia’s. Painting: mixed media’s 2 paintings with frame. Painted in October 2009.

I made those small oil paintings  in preparation of large paintings (see Sepia eggs 2, Sepia eye 2). In that phase, I took distance of colour and focused on form, texture and material. Experimenting with materials while searching, I made 2 small paintings: one sepia is the pulverization of sepia and blue ink on paper. the second sepia is made of glue on an unpainted linen. The 2 paintings are set together in a wooden golden frame painted with gold leaf.

Cuttlefish are very clever and fascinating. When they are in danger for instance, they spit ink in the water to disorient their enemy.
