Sepia eye
Sepia eye. Sepias are the only cuttle species with an eyelid, they are very curious too!
Oil, pigments, animal glue on canvas. Painted in 2009. I made this small painting in preparation of large paintings (see Sepia eggs 2, Sepia eye 2). In that phase, I took distance of colour and focused on form, texture and material.
The support is made of self prepared linen and of animal glue.
Cuttlefishes have the ability to blend into the background, In the centre of the scene, a glossy cuttlefish’ s eye is watching us.
