Medusa
The title of this work, “Medusa”, refers to the female monster with a human face and snakes as hair in Greek mythology. This is also the name given to the jellyfish in French. With its long tentacles and its transparency, the jellyfish is a symbol of the collective unconscious primal fear. This painting belongs to a series of drawings, collages, as well as paintings which all have “Water” as a common theme.
This work is the direct translation of a photograph.
In this painting, the texture of the jellyfish is palpable. The background is mat, the foreground is glossy.
