Les dimanches de couleurs
The French name of this painting (Les dimanches de couleurs) is freely translated into ‘Colourful Sundays. I started this painting after the first lockdown in 2020. As usual, I prepared the canvas with bone glue and gesso. The painting is made of several layers.
The ‘pandemic period’ was a dark period, a lot of dramas occurred. In this painting I strived to transform negativity into joy.
This painting looks like a colourful transparent curtain from which a flight of bubbles and round forms evaporate. It’s a search on correspondence between earth and sky, a study on the limits of the framework.
How to escape from verticality? Vertical colourful lines cross the frame. Golden and silver circles seem to fly away in a wing shape direction.
This painting is made of oil paint on canvas. Its size makes it a perfect painting for large rooms with straight walls. This extra-large painting is 135 cm high and 170 cm wide. The bright polychrome colours and abstract style makes this artwork suitable for modern interiors, living rooms, bedrooms, as well as offices and open business spaces. It is timeless, spiritual and it appeals to people of all ages. In short: This painting is as soothing and peaceful as a colourful Sunday morning in springtime.
