The 5 phases: Earth 2. Chinese thought and philosophy are the inspiration of these paintings. 

Every phase is connected with one colour, one season, one yin and one yang organ, one planet, one sense, one emotion, one animal etc.

I prepared the support of each painting by hand. Several layers of gesso protect the support from different thin layers of high quality oil painting.

In this series of 20 paintings (here a selection of 9 paintings) I tried to make the theory of the Chinese phases visible. I connected it with occidental thought and used a lot of freedom of associations. In addition the contrast in textures (thin, thick, brilliance, mat) enhances the reading of the works.

This medium sized square painting is 55 cm high on 55 cm wide will fit in every interieur. You can view each painting alone or in combination with one or more paintings of the same series. More paintings of the same size and theme will give a rythmic and dynamic style in your space.
